It is easy to forget when visiting beautiful Canyon Lake that there are great opportunities to take in some live music at one of our area venues. Did you know that between Canyon Lake and New Braunfels along the Guadalupe River there are three of the best Hill Country music venues? Lets start our music journey below Canyon Lake and float our way downstream. Situated right on the banks of the Guadalupe River and just below Canyon Dam is the Whitewater Amphitheater which was nominated by the Academy of Country Music for Venue of the Year. Imagine listening to authentic Texas Country Music under the stars with the serene waters of the Guadalupe flowing by. In two weeks Turnpike Troubadours will be playing July 28th at 8pm (whitewaterrocks.com) . Continuing on our float down the Guadalupe will bring us to River Road Icehouse. The small venue provides great atmosphere for listening. Upcoming shows include Flatland Cavalry (July 13th 8pm), Wade Bowen (August 4th 9PM) and William Clark Green (August 11th 7pm) (riverroadicehouse.com). A little further downstream is the world famous Gruene Hall. Gruene Hall is mere steps from the Guadalupe River and offers the quintessential “dancehall” experience. Originally built in the 1800’s and going strong ever since, this dancehall offers live music every day with headliners in July including shows by Reckless Kelly (July 13th & 14th), Roger Creager (July 18th & 19th), American Aquarium (July 27th) and Chris Knight (July 28th) (gruenehall.com).
